Job Description
Seeking a Oracle RAC Admin for an opportunity with our client in New York City, NY.

Work arrangement:
  • Remote
  • W2 position; 12 months
  • US Citizen.
Position description:
  • The ideal candidate is a NY resident with at least 12 years of hands-on experience in database engineering and experience in implementing/ managing Oracle Databases in an RAC environment with at least two years of production support.
  • A successful candidate will serve as a database Engineer reporting to the Infrastructure Management division. This position is responsible for delivering and overseeing the Agency's multi-tenant databases and service offerings as part of the Foundational Infrastructure Modernization Project. The Database Engineer will lead projects and initiatives and make significant contributions to the technical design and implementation of the Agency's database platforms under OTI's directions. This role offers the opportunity to work across teams and contribute to the database services while leading the charge for database solutions across service delivery. It involves critical thinking and problem-solving in concert with using industry-standard best practices.
Responsibilities and duties:
  • Install, configure, customize, create, implement, and support Oracle databases in Non-RAC and RAC environments, and software and related tools/products for the database systems at OTI
  • Implement Grid Infrastructure release 19c on an OS Unix/Linux platform support databases
  • Implement Oracle Automatic Storage Management (ASM) cluster Filesystem and maintain it; Add new disks to an ASM disk group
  • Patching grid infrastructure and Oracle RDBMS
  • Set up Oracle database security environment
  • Carry out DB Performance Tuning and RMAN backups
  • Working with Oracle, implement best-of-class solutions
  • Utilize Linux Administration skills as needed; develop UNIX shell scripts; Automation using ansible; work with the Database team and teams of Unix engineers and administrators to design, build, upgrade, and support the necessary Oracle infrastructure to meet the needs of OTI and OTI hosted supported agencies
  • Work hands-on on more extensive projects such as migration, implementing new features, architectures, and validation, and assisting OTI
  • Configure Golden gate replication; both integrated and microservices-based configuration
  • Configure Oracle RAC and ASM technologies on Redhat Linux
  • Configure Oracle Data Guard with Active and Standby database modes
  • Assist developers and end users in implementing best practices and addressing performance issues in implementation
  • Ensure all databases are backed up and meet the business's Recovery Point Objectives (RPO) and Recovery Time Objectives (RTO)
  • Lead team efforts in adopting modernized architecture such as hybrid cloud and database ready for hybrid cloud
  • Perform RCA; manage different database encryption technologies; and implement DR by design and validate
  • Perform special projects and initiatives as assigned by OTI
  • Experience with the latest Oracle versions and their features, including Multi-tenant Architecture, Oracle Partitioning, Real Application Testing (RAT), and Oracle Database Vault
Required knowledge, skills, and abilities:
  • Minimum 12 years of hands-on experience in database engineering 10+ years of experience
  • Experience implementing/managing Oracle Databases in an RAC environment with at least two years of production support 10+ years of experience
  • Experience Implementing Grid Infrastructure release 19 or higher on a Redhat Linux environment 10+ years of experience
  • Experience implementing ASM cluster Filesystem with knowledge of how to maintain it for successful operational delivery 10+ years of experience
  • Knowledge of Best Practices for adding a new disk to an ASM disk group 10+ years of experience
  • Experience patching grid infrastructure software 10+ years of experience
  • Familiarity with Oracle database resource manager 10+ years of experience
  • Familiar with Ansible/automation/scripting 10+ years of experience
  • Familiarity with huge pages on Linux 10+ years of experience
  • Experience supporting a high-availability production database 10+ years of experience
  • Experience in configuring/supporting Oracle Active Data Guard required 10+ years of experience
  • Experience in database architecture and design, Oracle Advanced Security Option, and Golden Gate for Oracle Replication 10+ years of experience
  • Knowledge of working on cloud environments, preferably AWS & AZURE 10+ years of experience
  • Participate in application/DB outage incidents during troubleshooting and provide solutions and RCA 10+ years of experience
  • English Native or bilingual proficiency
