Java Developer (US citizenship or Green Card holder required)

JOB SUMMARY:

AM LLC is looking for (5) Java Developer candidates to support our Veterans Affairs client.

A Java Developer must have experience in analyzing customer needs and developing overall concept and design objectives. The developer must be able to create software in Java and must have experience in debugging and correcting errors in computer programs.

Strong preference is for those candidates with full-stack Java development experience with the Department of Veterans Affairs or another federal agency.

In addition, this role will require 1 week per month onsite in the Arlington, VA or San Antonio, TX office, so it is required that all candidates currently live within a 60-mile radius of either location. Over time, this role will eventually be onsite only, but that timeframe has not yet been determined.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Java Developer will perform will deliver innovative solutions that help our federal clients improve the services they provide to the American public. You explore how new technologies can be applied to solve challenging business problems. You thrive in a collaborative, creative and productive team environment.

You will be responsible for participating in the full Agile development life cycle with Java apps, Web Services (REST), and reusable components to support the overall project.

Duties will include, but not be limited to:

· Performing detailed design, identify reusable components, configure, build, and test app and/or tech arch components.

· Analyzing technical needs, develop and debug code with design objectives.

· Fixing defects found during testing. Review and integrate all app requirements (functional, security, performance).

· Apply application design and development across multiple technology areas

· Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum

· Excellent communication skills

· Understanding of regression testing

· Ability to think critically and analytically

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

· US citizenship or Green Card holder required to obtain a federal security clearance to support this Veterans Affairs program.

· Bachelor’s degree in computer science, electronics engineering or other engineering or technical discipline is required.

· 8 years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education.

· Minimum of 5 years of Java developer experience, including the following required skills:

- Java 11+ development

- Angular 10+ development

- Angular, Java, Spring experience is a must

- Custom development

- REST, JSON

- JPA 2.1+

- Hibernate transactions

- Caching principles

- Aspect-oriented programming

· Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment

· Ability to exhibit a professional, positive attitude and work ethic

· Excellent organizational and communication skills

· Ability to speak, read, and write English

· Critical thinking, sound judgment, and adaptability required

STRONGLY PREFERRED:

· An active PIV card from the Department of Veterans Affairs

· Architecture design experience using common design patterns

· Experience working in a DevSecOps environments using tools such as Jenkins and Ansible in CI/CD pipelines

· Experience with performance testing and tuning

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:

· Must have a quiet, dedicated workspace for Home Office work.

· User-provided home high-speed network connection

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

Employees must have the ability to perform the following physical demands for extended periods of time with or without assistance

· This position requires the use of a computer screen for extensive periods of time.

· This position requires the ability to remain in a stationary position (standing and/or seated) most of the time.

· Viewing computer screen/monitor

· Utilizing keyboard

· Answering phone/making calls

· Participating in meetings and client-facing meetings in person or on camera

The salary range for this role is $97,488 – $105,768. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range or be above or below the range based on factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, business need, and location.
