Heelstone Renewable Energy is a utility-scale solar developer headquartered in Chapel Hill, NC with expertise in originating, financing, constructing, and operating solar photovoltaic projects. POSITION SUMMARY: 

Heelstone is seeking a Development Manager that will be responsible for developing utility-scale solar energy projects across the U.S. This is a full-time development position located in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Coordinate key phases of solar project development for pre-NTP projects, including but not limited to site control, project zoning, project permitting, due diligence studies, and utility interconnection.
• Prepare materials and participate in internal and external meetings associated with project development.
• Engage and manage external consultants as needed for permitting and other project development activities.
• Work with internal team to review project feasibility, project budgets and development schedules.
• Work with governmental agencies, community groups, and landowners to facilitate development efforts.
• Support internal finance and construction teams to facilitate successful project construction and financial closings.
• Significant amount of travel based on business needs.

SKILLS AND PERSONAL QUALITIES

• Strong sense of accountability, taking ownership over projects and responsibilities and resolving issues proactively
• Highly proficient in MS Office, including, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Self-starter that operates well in an entrepreneurial and collaborative environment
• Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills
• Strong organization and management skills

EDUCATION/PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE 

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
• 2-4 years of project development, due diligence, or transactional experience
• Real estate and environmental diligence experience preferred
• Familiar with project development software (CAD, GIS, Microsoft Project)
