POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Associate Director of Research of the Equitas Health Institute, the Research Program Manager will assist and occasionally lead in implementing, evaluating, developing, and managing grant-funded public health programs undertaken by the Equitas Health Institute. The overall goal of the Institute's research initiatives is to support/conduct/develop research practices grounded in evidence-based and evidence-informed best practices that produce anti-oppressive knowledge, with the ultimate goal being the reduction of health disparities in marginalized communities. The Research Program Manager assists with these efforts statewide, regionally, nationally, and internationally as required. The Research Program Manager will assist in leading the organizational efforts in research programming and activities that actively engage the LGBTQ+, underserved populations with an emphasis on BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) and HIV-positive communities.


SALARY:$58,700-$73,300

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:Essential functions of the job include, but are not limited to, traveling, driving, or having reliable transportation; written communication; utilizing a computer for typing; and attending meetings.

MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Under the supervision of the Associate Director of Research, performs independently in LGBTQ+, health disparities, and HIV+ research, using a variety of methods, including review of academic literature and the use of statistical methods, qualitative, and policy methods;
  • Actively seek, identify, and recognize external opportunities that present viable funding opportunities and match the Institute's goals and priorities;
  • Write and submit research-related grants;
  • Develop and maintain a process to monitor grant compliance, including grant reporting;
  • Supervise, mentor, and support department research staff, interns, and practicum students in orchestrating research projects and Institute-related tasks;
  • Work with the Education Department as required to support a bridging of research and education to support the Institute's goals;
  • Prepare data and background research, internally or with other Equitas Health departments, for use in summaries, slide decks for presentations, and peer-reviewed articles;
  • Maintain and keep confidential electronic records of evaluations, data, and related results from internal and external research;
  • Respond timely to internal and external inquiries about grants, study activities, and public awareness of studies;
  • Cultivate and strengthen University-sponsored research relationships;
  • Continuously grow and develop cultural humility, exhibiting an understanding, awareness, and respect for diversity and inclusion;
  • Contribute to a positive work environment by demonstrating unconditional positive regard to all Equitas Health employees, interns, etc., with an understanding, awareness, and respect for diversity;
  • Undertake special projects as directed by the Associate Director of Research of the Equitas Health Institute;
  • Perform other related duties as assigned


EDUCATION/LICENSURE:
  • Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree in Education, Women's, Gender and Sexuality Studies, Public Health, Healthcare Administration, Political Science, Sociology, Social Work, or related field preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Research output such as articles, public scholarship, or conference presentations is preferred.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills;
  • Proficiency in various research methodologies (i.e., qualitative and quantitative methods) and experience in survey/focus group/interview guide design preferred.
  • Data analysis skills, including but not limited to the ability to perform and interpret various statistical tests and relevant qualitative approaches, are preferred. Knowledge of statistical software and qualitative software is preferred.
  • Support/conduct research practices that produce knowledge that is anti-oppression.
  • Demonstrated experience working directly with underserved populations, particularly the LGBTQ+ and HIV+ communities and communities of color.
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications and other computer applications required.
  • Must have reliable transportation and a valid Ohio driver's license.
