Medical Assistant

Growing neurology group is looking for a professional individual with a pleasant, courteous manner who is comfortable multi-tasking to assist our doctors and patients and perform medical assistant duties. Must be bilingual in English and Spanish with at least 3 years of experience in a medical office/ clinic or hospital. Creole is also preferred. Knowledge of Epic health records software is preferred. Will train.

BASIC DUTIES INCLUDE:

· Greeting patients and their family/ companions and rooming them.

· Take medical histories and perform specific assessments for new patients.

· Handle medication refill requests, insurance prior authorizations, plans of care, and general clinical paperwork.

· Educate patients and their families/ caregivers on needed testing/procedures and medications, and share educational materials.

· Maintain Exam Rooms neat & clean, receive and return patient calls, assist with scheduling, update, and maintain patient records in Epic.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Medical assistant experience in a doctor’s office or clinic. Spanish required. Creole a plus
