JOB SUMMARY:
The Appearance Attorney will report directly to the Managing Attorney of New York Foreclosure. Responsible for handling appearances in Suffolk, Nassau and other counties in New York.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ability to read loan documents in detail to identify what are loan documents missing and issues to address with clients
- Ability to communicate with clients, referee and adversaries in a professional manner
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to prepare for and appear in court for foreclosure conferences, settlement conferences and motion hearings
- Motivated self-starter, ability to multi-task, detail-oriented, flexible, and personable.
- Prepare summaries of hearings and provide results in a timely fashion
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as needed.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This job does not require the exercise of supervisory responsibilities.
EDUCATION & WORK EXPERIENCE:
- Must be licensed in NY
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws. This is normally acquired through a combination of the completion of a Bachelor's Degree and Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
- No prior experience required as extensive training will be provided
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
- Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects
- Overall good attitude and willingness to adapt to change
- Must possess good organizational skills
- Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; Gathers and analyzes information skillfully.
- Balances team and individual responsibilities; Contributes to building a positive team spirit.
- Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness; Looks for ways to improve and promote quality.
- Detailed analytic experience and organizational skills required
- Must have a vehicle or other means of transportation
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
