Job Description

Hours: Monday-Thursday 5:00am-3:30pm

Job Summary: Responsible for operating machine tools to produce precision metal parts. Produces small batches or large quantities of metal parts. Ensure products meet precise specifications. May also fabricate and modify parts to make or repair machine tools or maintain industrial machines.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Maintain high level of organization and cleanliness in the area.
    • · Operate various types of machine tools and perform progressive machining operations for metal parts, tools, and machines with close tolerances or high finish requirements.
  • Sets up, adjusts, and checks out programming of CNC machines tools.
  • Checks parts for conformance to specifications using various measuring and inspection techniques and documents results.
  • Assure Counts of incoming and outgoing materials are accurate and correctly documented.
  • Works from programming instructions, operational data, and machine set up instructions for machine operations such as bore, mill, drill, face, thread, profiling, and contouring.
  • Write basic programs. Modify programs in response to problems.
  • Maintains the proper inventory of cutting tools, drill bits, consumables, and supplies for machine tools.
  • Assists in the identification and procurement of machine tools.
  • Assists in continuous improvement techniques impact products and processes.
  • Ensure machines are set up properly, work well and produce quality products.
  • Perform and document all Job/Routing procedures, as directed.
  • Perform material handling functions, including packaging.
  • Operate forklift and other material handling operations as required.
  • Deburr parts using sanders, grinders or other tools as needed.

Haas VS2

Micrometers, calipers, CMM, surface measurement equipment, depth gages, thread gages

Education and Experience:

  • Associate’s degree (AA) or equivalent from A two-year college or technical school
  • 4+ years related experience and/or training with CNC machine tool operations and procedures.

Skills:

  • Advanced blueprint reading and inspection experience.
  • Strong math skills and problem-solving skills.
  • Understanding of Material Properties including Flatness, Surface Grades, Types, Gauge etc.
  • Ability to multi-task, run multiple machines simultaneously.
