Position: Vice President of Product Management
 

What you will do:

The Vice President of Product Management (“VPPM”) plays a critical role in leading and executing the product strategy of the company. This position requires a seasoned professional with a strong background in product development, innovation, and strategic planning. The ideal Product Management leader works closely with WPO’s general managers to set our technology strategy and priorities while partnering with our operations and engineering teams to ensure flawless execution. The VPPM leads a team of Product Managers and Business Analysts to effectively and efficiently manage the roadmap and delivery of mission-critical applications for WPO. The portfolio of applications includes member and client facing experiences (eg, apps, websites) as well as internal applications that enable WPO’s services. The VPPM will oversee all aspects of product development, from conceptualization to launch, ensuring alignment with company goals and market demands.

Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Planning: Develop and implement the product development strategy in alignment with overall company objectives and in-line with the business strategies developed by WPO Executives and General Managers. Identify market trends, customer needs, and competitive landscape to drive innovation and differentiation.
  • Portfolio Management: Work with other WPO leaders to develop cost / benefit analyses to prioritize development activities in support of multiple lines of business. Build applications that meet the needs of multiple product lines that share common applications and experiences.
  • Experience Definition & Management: Define, design and execute differentiated experiences for WPO’s customers, members, clinical partners and team members in a manner that’s consistent with market expectations and WPO’s brand.
  • Team Leadership: Provide leadership and guidance to the product development team, fostering a culture of creativity, collaboration, and excellence. Set clear goals and objectives and empower team members to achieve them.
  • Product Lifecycle Management: Oversee the entire product lifecycle, from ideation to end-of-life, ensuring timely and successful product launches. Manage resources effectively to meet deadlines and budget constraints.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with other departments such as marketing, sales, engineering, and operations to ensure seamless execution of product development initiatives. Foster strong relationships and communication channels to drive alignment and synergy across the organization.
  • Market Analysis: Conduct thorough market analysis to identify new opportunities and areas for growth. Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitive developments to inform product strategy and decision-making.
  • Product Innovation: Drive product innovation by leveraging customer feedback, market research, and technology advancements. Champion new ideas and concepts and oversee the development of prototypes and proofs of concept.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure the highest standards of quality and reliability for all products. Establish and enforce rigorous testing and validation processes to mitigate risks and deliver superior products to customers.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks associated with product development, including technical challenges, regulatory compliance, and market uncertainties. Develop contingency plans to address potential setbacks and ensure project success.
  • Budgeting and Resource Allocation: Develop and manage the product development budget, allocating resources effectively to maximize ROI. Monitor expenditures and track performance against financial targets.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with key stakeholders, including executives, investors, and customers, to communicate product development strategies, milestones, and outcomes. Build trust and credibility through transparent and proactive communication.
     

Qualifications/Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or related field; advanced degree (MBA, MS) preferred.
  • Proven track record of success in product management leadership roles, with at least 10 years of experience in the industry.
  • Strong business acumen and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to translate market insights into actionable plans.
  • Excellent leadership and people management skills, with a demonstrated ability to inspire and motivate teams.
  • Deep understanding of product lifecycle management, from concept to commercialization.
  • Experience working in cross-functional teams and collaborating with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and negotiate effectively.
  • Analytical mindset with proficiency in data-driven decision-making.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements and quality standards.
  • Passion for innovation and continuous improvement.
